PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
October 2008
|
Dear Colleagues,
Our October 14th speaker, Mary Beth Hartleb, J.D., SPHR-CA, of PRISM Human Resource Consulting Services, Inc, was very well received. Her presentation on Reduction In Force (RIF) covered the entire process, from the decision to RIF, various legal considerations, the 4/5 rule, communications, and Corporate/Ethical responsibilities. It is a very timely topic for most of our members, as we either went through this process personally or knew of someone that was impacted by RIF.
We are changing our meeting venue in November. Come join us on Wednesday, November 5th at Buca di Beppo. This is going to be a FUN, social event and at the same time we will be helping a great organization, Safe Nest. Some of you have expressed a desire to meet other members in a more social setting, so here’s your chance. Since Election Day is on the first Tuesday, and Veteran’s Day on the second Tuesday, of the month, we decided to make November our Fundraising month. Safe Nest’s Vision is “A world where domestic violence is not tolerated.” Please log on to www.safenest.org to find out more about this organization and how you can donate. The $30 cost per person includes an appetizer buffet and a non-alcoholic beverage. The Las Vegas Chapter of IMA is proud to contribute the net proceeds of this event, plus any additional amounts donated from our members and friends. Buca di Beppo is located on 412 E Flamingo Rd (just east of Paradise Rd). Their phone number is 702-866-2867. Please RSVP by October 24 to Crystal Zuke (czuke@wcalasvegas.com)
Our December’s meeting is the annual joint meeting with The Institute of Internal Auditors. This breakfast meeting on “Ethics” will be presented by Bob Rudloff from 8 am-11 am at Bali Hi/Cili. RSVP deadlines will be announced at the next newsletter.
The Las Vegas Chapter will once again co-sponsor with The Wild West Council in bringing a full day of professional development seminars to our members. Mark your calendar for Friday, January 23, 2009. For our CMA member who has met their 2008 Ethics requirement, we will present an Ethics session to fulfill your 2009 credits.
Please see our calendar of events posted on www.imalvc.com for the hot line-up we have planned for 2009.
Chapter Competition update: As of September 2008, the LV Chapter ranked #21 out of 90 chapters in the Stevenson Division (chapters with membership of 125+). Go Team Vegas!!
Please share your comments and suggestions with me at cecilia.mutee@anclv.com, I can’t wait to hear from you.
Don’t forget to VOTE on November 4th.
I am Cecilia Mutee, and I approved this message.
